Goldilocks ran amok!

This is what happened when my EYL (English for Young Learners) teacher gave us "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" story and let us used our wildest imagination to make interesting teaching media.

They have to much time in their hands to make these puppets...

My group!! We made those masks for teaching speaking (role play) and create the letter and envelope for teaching writing (pretend to be Goldilocks and write an apologize letter to the bears)

Reads the direction and follows where Goldilocks goes!

(This is for teaching reading, obviously...)

Goldilocks! Monopoly version

You choose one of those puppets above as your character, toss the dice and, like in monopoly, count where you'd end up. If you somehow end in 'Cheese', you have to make a sentence with your character=subject + one of the verb in the middle of the monopoly board + "Cheese"=object (e.g. Goldilocks ate the cheese)

Very good for vocabulary and grammar (sentence structure)!

No doubt, this is for vocabulary lesson

and this one too...

Btw, you play this like when you play "concentration" game on computer

I got video record too. However, the one took it concentrated more on people than the media... ckckck, boys...

That's it. See you in the next post!!

Peel egg in 2 seconds??

I just watch "26 hours/day" again the other day and got this neat trick to peel eggs in lightning speed *what an exaggeration*

Just put your boiled eggs in a Tupperware or something, add water, and shake it.

...

That's it

I really must have no life...

"I can't believe I even bothered to read up to there, I really must have no life"

Omigawd... this is the one of the truest quotes I've ever read. I agree though, coz I've done that several times: reading really bad fics, that I know no normal human would ever be able (or even think) about writing and/or reading it.

I have read in certain journal (I forgot the name though) about fic that's hailed as the worst fanfiction ever. It's called "My Immortal", if I'm not mistaken. That fics was a nightmare, yet I seemed to be captivated by it, and kept reading more than half of it (and still have nightmare about it). It's kinda like when you cannot stop your eyes wandering into the ugliest/grossest thing on Earth, maybe.

I'm really fortunate to be an Indonesian because...

Okay, because of the depressing state of this country these days, I think I need to write some positive views of Indonesia.

Let's get started!

I'm really fortunate to be an Indonesian because in Indonesia...

1. I can get 'Angkot' (one of public transportation in the form of car) everywhere! Seriously! I need not find a 'halte' (similar with bus stop) or something to find 'Angkot', I just need to wave my hand, and... voila! the Angkot will stop in front of me, no matter where I am.

2. We have batik!! Yai!! no matter what other countries said, batik is ours!

3. The people are not that 'police happy' (I said that in the same sense with 'trigger happy'). I've heard someone (I don't wanna tell names) said that in other country, all matter is solved with law (and it includes police and lawyer). For example, when a baby's crying all night, the neighbors will easily call cops and sue you. Hmm... so extreme... [Btw, is that true? Can someone confirm this and tell me?]

4. We can hear 'Adzan' easily!! My CCU (Cross Cultural Understanding) teacher said that in Kuala Lumpur (if I'm not mistaken), the Mosques are not allowed to sound 'Adzan' loudly. Therefore, we have to know the time to 'Sholat' ourselves!

5. Pirate videos/CDs/DVDs can be easily found. *a bit ashamed, yet secretly happy*

6. We have specific offices for 'photocopy services'! I have heard that in most countries, we have to do photocopy ourselves. Imagine when you have to photocopy documents or something into thousands of copies...

7. There's no Animal Control. I'd be sad if all of the cats that roam around my house disappeared

8. ??

Okay, I think that's all for now. I'll add more if I have some more ideas.

Btw, if someones (especially those from outside Indonesia) disagree with any of these, please tell me, coz I don't want to accidentally insult someones/some countries.

Thank you!

26 hours/day

Ok, after the depressing post yesterday, this time I'll post something brighter (brighter than last time at least)

Today, my uncle's family came, brought his wife and my cute baby cousin. This of course mucked up my daily nap time (Nap time's the most important!!). In the end, I chose to watch TV, which then led me to this funny TV program called '26 hours/day'.

This Japanese show is about how to make the most in just a short time. The idea is in this era people have so many activities that 24 hours are not quite enough. Therefore, this show gives us many unique ideas of how to do something by using 'short cut'.

Quite interesting, I may say. One of the performers showed how to prepare 'Party Cuisine', which usually need hours to prepare, in just 20 minutes. I can understand the appeal of this show for the Japanese. They are famous for valuing their time after all (or so I think), which then led me to think: Why can't Indonesian people be like that?

'Time is money' is the slogan of that program. Quite a famous proverb which has been proven true in many occasions.

Following that proverb, if time is money, then Indonesian people's habit of wasting time means wasting money, right?

No wonder our country is still 'not prosper' yet...

Promise to myself: I'll try to respect the time better, for change can only be started from yourself, right ;-)

KRS Nightmare

After our wonderful *note the sarcasm* KRS online last night, everyone went home with good amount of tension in their shoulder. There were many who claimed to not have enough sks, actually have enough sks but certain nosy person chased them away (including myself *sorry, I'm still sore with that person*), and several were in danger of having several of their subjects be deleted permanently. What a productive night!

Okay, seems that I'm still full of sarcasm tendency...

I just visited Facebook and read many of my friends' comment. Most of them lamenting the fact that someone up there in the office had made it their job to make their live as nightmarish as possible.

Btw, one of my friend, just call him Mr. Y, seemed so stressed esp. with Um's management. Me too, Mr. Y, me too. I quote him "Can't you, for God sake, COUNT???" He seemed mad that the people in the office only give 15 available seats, while we have much more students than that. I'm mad too...

Wolfie just called me and we have finished ranted together to certain someone. The nerve of that certain someone (CS)!!! She told us that we shouldn't take drama for it wasn't ours (the Ed's students'). Yet, Wolfie informed me that after we pulled out the course, many of her friends, which actually also form Ed, joined in. Darn it all to hell!!

Forgive my language. I'm really mad.

Urgh, I only get 20 sks from my planned 24. Help me~~~!

We needed to stage a coup! Dethrone the people who responsible with our schedule! And get our rightful sks and courses! *clap clap bow*

School n Fasting

Just realize that it's only about 10 days before school begin again and about 5 days before fasting

Happy Ramadhan!

oh, and about 2 days before KRS (had to find the most convenient schedule)

Go, Fisca!

Cangar, here I come!!

Today, my daddy brought the family -- minus my kid sister coz she had school -- to Cangar Hot Spring in Batu. It was the first time I went there, which was pathetic I told ya for it's just about an hour from my home. Speaking of that, I also haven't visited the newly built Wendit, which is only 3 minutes from my home with motor cycle or ten minutes walking. Shame on me...

Anyway, the main reason we went there, besides for recreation of course, was because of my mother. She is studying for her doctoral degree and seems to be sore everywhere in her body for all the time she sit down typing in her laptop. Figured that hot spring would be good for her, and me too, what with me busy playing games and watching movies in my laptop =P

On with the story...

We arrived at Cangar at 10 A.M., which was still quite empty judged from its parking lot. Hey, you know what my first impression of Cangar was? DIRTY!!

Gawd, you must see the state of its parking lot. There were trash everywhere, from plastics to banana peels, and all of them seemed to be there from the Juracsic age and never been cleaned even once. Urgh... gross! What's worse was that the workers never seemed to care 'bout it and let those trash mounted up. It also balanced with the lack of trash can, no surprise there...

Btw, the entrance ticker there was only Rp3.000,00 So cheap... No wonder they couldn't afford cleaning service *sarcasm*

Upon reaching the hot spring (after walked down quite long stone stairs) my dad and I immediately seek a perfect spot (which turned out not so perfect for me) in the pool. No need to change into swim suit, just wear our clothes (everyone do that, why shouldn't us), and enjoy the spring.

Nothing really interesting happen. Just the fact that it was really hot the first time I put my feet in the hot spring (*really, what else you expect* shut up, my annoying inner self!), or a nearly dangerous situation when my mom almost poked my eyes with her umbrella (only she'd used umbrella in a pool *shake head*), or an annoying person beside me who smoke in a pool (Cigarette's a health hazard!!!) and nearly made me gag with the smell.

Oh, related to the garbage problem above, it seems that not only ugly and uneducated people would throw their litter not in its place (sorry, ugly and uneducated people!). For I saw a pretty girl put away her plastic waste in the forest floor behind her. Then again, the lack of bin was also to be blamed for.

Okay, that's my story for today (which turned out more about rubbish (not turned out rubbish, it's different =P) than about Cangar. Sorry there!)

Bye!

Darn My Laptop =(

Duh, no need to say that i love my laptop -my precious itty bitty leppie =) - still sometimes I hope that I could throw it down the river, stomp it hard to smithereens and be done with it. (sorry my laptop, i'm not mean to hurt your feeling. it's the truth after all ;-)

What made me being so annoyed with this chunk of machine was when I tried to use the dvd player (good old dvd =3 ). One time, it ran smoothly like nobody business, but the other time it refused to even show the dvd's file. Gahh!! I wanna watch CSI!!!

Yup, the time i felt like indulged myself with petty otherworldly goods - aka. buying stack of dvds - this thing refused to do my bid. It was so cunning. It lead me to a false sense of security and smoothly ran the first dvd. But when it was the time for the second dvd...

I really, really wanna kick this piece of **** had i not realized that my mom wouldn't buy me the new one :-(

Mom, please exchange our old vcd player with brand new dvd player!! Pretty please with cherry on top =3

First time post!!!

Well, this is it, my trying at blogging. Okay, I make this blog with no clear picture of what I'll post in the future. For all I know, this blog may consists of only dinner menu I have for a month =P

Uhh... I know that write this in English, but FYI I'm not a native. Hell, the first time I knew that English even exist was in my second year in Elementary school. So, yeah... sorry if might butchered English with my less than satisfactory grammar ^^;

Okay, now that that problem is out, I welcome you to my modest blog. Hope you like it

Cheers,

Fisca
